A natural sport of regular Bartlett, Red Bartlett has many of the same qualities as Bartlett Pear, but with an attractive shade of scarlet on its skin. They have an early harvest season and are vigorous, easy to grow trees. The aromatic fruit is medium to large in size and though they start out green colored they eventually take on their signature scarlet hue as they ripen. The flesh is soft and white with with a sweet flavor and tender texture perfect for fresh eating or canning. The fruit can be ripened without cold storage, but as with all pears, is best picked before fully ripe and allowed to finish ripening on the counter. Cold hardy to USDA zone 4.
Pollinator required – must plant near a compatible variety of pear for fruit production.
